Summit™ Viper SS Climbing Treestand

During the 2006 season, Team Harvest found Summit Treestands to be a trust worthy friend.  The stands are well made and are fairly light weight.  They carry well and are quiet in the woods, but can be somewhat difficult to get back together once the hunts over.  The foot stir-ups on the Summit stand are a step up from its predecessor, and they make climbing quick and easy.  While the seats on Summit stands are quite comfortable, the new 2007 stands come with better padded seats that include zippered pockets.  Their large platforms are sturdy and bite well on medium to soft trees.  These stands come virtually ready to use and come with a full safety harness and a noise reducing tape called silent skin.  The company also offers a variety of accessories for stands including bow holders, foot rests, hunting equipment bags, and replacement parts.  There were some things that we here at Team Harvest felt the stand could improve on.  We would like to see a leveling option on the stand, as well as larger padded shoulder straps for transporting it.

This year Primos came out with a Pretty Boy competitor. The new Primos B Mobile turkey decoy has the attraction capabilities that are as good as the Pretty Boy decoy. However, the power behind this decoy is its ability to be transported easily. The full strutting tom, thanks to its soft, flexible material allows the decoy to be rolled up like a newspaper and packed into any terrain. The decoy is sold with a silky, synthetic fan that looks real to life, but can be modified with real turkey feathers to simulate an actual tom strutting. The real fan feathers only increases the drawing power of this poser. Team Harvest has tested this decoy in rocky, hilly southern terrain, as well as the flat farm lands of the mid-west. In both a cases the decoy performed well. The only flaw that has been observed is the cost of the decoy has increased since its debut and its inability to overcome its rolled up shape on a cool spring morning.
